The driver is a criminal who should be prosecuted, convicted, & punished to the fullest extent of the law.

You are way too kind and forgiving. Or, maybe you are just a better person than I. But along with God almighty, I believe in the rule of law. This man wasn't just negligent, he was CRIMINALLY negligent. The reason for that is quite simple. A person cannot be distracted by their phone at any time when the vehicle is moving. It is against the law and if it results in bodily injury, can be a felony depending on jurisdiction. What you call a mistake I would call a choice. A willful decision to ignore law and almost kill YOU. At the very least, he should never drive again.

Beautiful, humbling, and powerful. I'm not canonizing you...yet..., Sarah, but your thoughts on suffering, forgiveness, and acceptance of God's Holy Will is that of the saints. It should be the barometer by which all of us live. We would know much more peace and true happiness in our lives. Thank you.

I didn’t know that Sarah, the thought of you injured like that is sad for me. Reading your thoughts the last few months have left me very close to you. At least you didn’t get your brain damaged and become a democrat!

What a beautiful response to a truly catastrophic situation. The fact that you've arrived at this conclusion and live it is a beautiful expression of God's grace working in your life, and blessing us to boot. Just last evening I watched the 1975 movie "The Hiding Place" about the Ten Boom family who were imprisoned in Nazi labor camp for hiding Jews in Holland during WWII. The love that the sisters *chose* to believe in, the love of Christ, despite the unimaginable terror surrounding them on all sides, was nothing short of miraculous. Who amongst us wouldn't be tempted to give in to that hatred for our apparent enemies?! In reality, who doesn't deserve exactly that kind of persecution because of our sins? We don't want to contemplate the horror of sin, especially our own, especially if it's grave. In the movie, Corrie Ten Boom is portrayed as having to conquer her own hate for the Nazis and their cruelty; her own sister helped her, encouraged her, reminded her to love. Forgive. She said, paraphrasing, "there is no pit so deep that God is not deeper still " They shined the light of Christ in a place that needed it, and brought many to belief (and comfort, and hope) because of it. Would that we all could behave like that in our daily circumstances with petty annoyances. Starting there, we'll be better equipped to fight the major demonic forces that will come and are already here.

I still think you need to sue the driver. He almost killed you. Why should he not be punished?

That's very good Sarah. One cannot approach God with feelings of hate, regret, anger etc. in their heart and mind. No amount of retribution or "human justice" will take you one step closer to God. Forgiveness releases the things one hangs onto that makes this world and experience seem more real than God. God is the Truth. If you want to know God, make this world meaningless and God fills the void, because God IS the Truth and only God Exists. You are solidly on the path when you follow the voice of God (Holy Spirit) within you and seek no other guide or teacher. You are doing great. Keep at it, and so will we. Much love and thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts on these many fronts.

It's good to forgive.

It's good to keep Spiritual Truth in mind.

That said, I hope you retained capable counsel at the outset.

In all aspects of American society, incredibly harmful actions are being done, and seem to involve zero consequences. That is intentional, strategic and systematic on the part of the EVIL Radical Left. This cannot be allowed to continue. EVERYONE has been warned not to text and drive. Everyone. The driver who broke your bones because he CHOSE to distract himself with his smart phone while driving is RESPONSIBLE for his actions and for the consequences of those actions.

It is time to hold wrongdoers accountable. If we do not, civil society will be lost, and with it morality and virtue and honor. So I say you have a RESPONSIBILITY to buck up and do your part in returning BALANCE to the endless struggle between Good and evil.

I'm glad you're healing and are well enough to type.
