In the case of children raised without two parents, to whom could they be expected to turn to fill the void? Likewise, those who were raised in immoral households—becoming more common in a slipping secular society—must receive moral/spiritual guidance from somewhere.
Great job Sarah! You hit on another vulnerable weakness in our society. I saw that 50% of the women today are single Moms. The Church is a great beacon for showing what is right and what and the good that a family can be. Families are under attack as well. Some how, some way we need to reach out to those hurting so badly because of so many abuses. "School vouchers" are taking hold in many parts of our Country and need to be supported. We need more support for single Moms, and provide training/education as to what a "Good life" can be. The Church needs to be that beacon!!
These are important observations Sarah. They do really strike at the heart of so many problems. I come from a family with a dis-functional mother which led to a dis-functional family. When I see a loving mother walking hand in hand with their child, my heart aches with longing for that relationship. I sometimes think it would have been better for my parents to divorce when I was young. It's a crazy world.

The statistic you referenced that almost half of the babies born in in the U.S. in 2019 were born to unmarried women is staggering. If more people (including many Catholics) looked upon Joseph & Mary as role models for the family, our society would have a better chance of surviving the anti-christian and anti-family environment we find ourselves in today. I saw another commentary today that said that couples that pray together have a 1 in 1,152 divorce rate.
Well said! Love rules by God’s design. Christ will always be the head of the church, and He is the Word of salvation for all who would receive Him.

With women's rights be coming to the forefront this is one of its byproducts.
For a large number of men the financial fallout from a divorce is too onerous so the will tend to avoid marriage.

Nature abhors a vacuum, and if children aren't filled with good things at home, they'll be filled by other things out in the world.
Lay people are obviously called to fill this void. How best to do that? Proactively Reaching out to single mothers is a way to start.
